Unhappy guys need your help. asap!

My car just broke down luckily at the parking lot of the see's candy. i called AAA and they are going to tow it to the house but i dont know what happen. i was coming back from my friends house picked up a nice fish tank. So he comes along for the ride and i notice it starts idling rough, so we go to the side to stop and it shuts down on me. get out have a cus fest using every bad word in the book while im pumping seeing if its getting fuel, start it back up idles fine so i drop it in 2nd gear and try to get home as fast as i can.

Then it starts slowing down so i turn into the see's candy and it dies on me again. again with the cus fest while im pumping but no luck starting it
We push the beast to a parking lot while i call my mom asking to give me the number to AAA so its getting towed home but im not sure whats going on.

I remembered i had dumped a gallon of biodiesel and i have a gallon of wvo with 1quart of gasoline mixed. In the inline clear filter you can see its getting the fuel but i suspect the metal can filter.BUT i just did a diesel purge and swapped out the fuel filters yesterday

You think the biodiesel/wvo/rug mix have something to do with it? or the fuel filter? please help! im going to drain all of the fuel and check the tank strainer as well.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! NEED THE CAR FOR WORK TOMORROW!

Bleeding?

The first thing I would do is make sure there is no air trapped in the spin-on filter. Loosen the outflow fuel line, then pump a few hard pumps until the fuel runs out with no bubbles.

Just an idea...

i can only think of air being in the system. if you engine is turning over, then only the absense of fuel will not make it start. check your glow plugs, but since you were running it when it stoped it should have been warm enough and no gp's needed.

check for air, i would even crack some of the IP lines to the injectors and see if fuel gets there. if it is dry, then you have some IP issue or other fuel delivery/air issue.

good luck

Far fetched but since you said you just changed the filters maybe you didn't tighten down everything enough and the vibrations from the engine worked something loose?

Well i was driven to see's candy by my mom and there was a guy parked next to it and the first thing on my mind was the guy was looking at my stereo but i wouldnt think hed be stupid enough to take it infront of a big factory so i assumed it was security. Go up to him and he asks oh is this your car? and i said yeah it died on me i just called in a tow truck, he said ohh ok i was just about to call to get it towed so thats fine, so he gets in his car and leaves.

I pop the hood and start pumping the hell out of it and try starting it, it goes and idles rough but as i try to rev it, it starts climbing its rpms and you hear it start growling lowder and lowder until it finally gets up to what the engine should sound like and then it idles soflty with almost no shaking or hickups.

i get pissed and try moving it driving it around the parking lot and it goes fine like nobodys business. So i get pissed park it and let it idle so i call the tow truck and he said he was 5 mins away so i just said **** it let him tow it otherwise he might get pissed i wasted his time.

So he asks whats wrong with it? and i told him it was running fine up until i started going around the corner and it was slowing down on me. He took a look inside the car and tryed starting it and sayed well you have a quater of a tank so id suggest filling it up but i dont have diesel so i cant give you any to drive home so ill just tow it over. Then he gives me his life story on how he got punished when he was my age for running his car on empty and having it die on him bla bla bla. But what was strange to me is that ive have many times ran it for a while on a quarter of a tank and this never happen but i didnt want to argue with him i just told him, sure next time ill make sure to put in more veggie oil, and he gives me a funny look and takes it home.

Car ran fine i took it up and down the hill and didnt have any problems wat so ever so im assuming i had air bubbles in the line somewere.

Similar situation when one of the bolts from my front suspension fell out and I had the worst case of toe in that you have ever seen...

...guy shows up.

"whats wrong"
"a bolt fell out of the arm where the tie rod hooks on and it is bent"
he looks under the car "looks like you need a tie rod end"
"no...I do not need a tie rod end. The bolt here has fallen out see the hole?"
"Les schwab could put on a tie rod end for you"
"I want it towed to my house like I initally called for"

Cmon...its obvious that I am not an idiot sitting there telling you exactly what happened. Do not offer me advice. Do not pass go. Load up the car and take it to my house please. heh.

I wouldn't be dumping in weird fuels if these problems stick around greasybenz...its not worth the trouble espically if your car is the only mode of transportation that you have to/fro work...

Have you done any research on the proper way to run waste oil?

If I were you I would just run straight diesel.

i would but im just a teenager with a so-so job. And with diesel prices in the bay area really high (chevron was at $2.99) i cant afford to pay for fuel, especially the places i have to drive to. Ive aquired a new job selling cutco brand kitchen cutlery and i have to setup appointments going to peoples houses and selling the cutlery. So now i do a pretty good amount of driving and with fuel prices especially diesel! i cant afford to be blowing off my pay checks on fuel bills, its just not worth it. Id rather save up for college then waste money on fuel. And this is a heavy diesel car thats not all that fuel effiecent as say my moms passat tdi is, so that just makes it worse for me.

Well for now im going to drain the tank and check the strainer and dump in fresh biodiesel. See how it runs with just with biodiesel and a little bit of ps white bottle. If it runs better and lasts longer without changing a fuel filter ill just stick with homebrew biodiesel i guess at least thats 70cents a gallon vs. $2.99

Put a new spin on filter and try again. Are you heating your grease?

Well I am 19 and drive back and forth from school 50miles round trip a day...90-100 miles if I work up on the boat for a friend of mine.

I would probably stick with making biodiesel than sorta cutting corners until you can either devote a proper setup (with perhaps some more filters?) since you really need your car for your work. Its sorta a trade off with how much income you loose fixing a problem that was only saving you X amount

I have dumped WVO in my tank before...but it was purely just cause I was driving a long ways and I knew it would be fine. And if I broke down...I had the whole weekend

And yeh I do make biodiesel too...I can understand the lesser energy required to just dump in and go when seeing a can of gas and some WVO
