Gear shift lever removal

How do I remove the gear shift lever on my 300D? I have a new zebrano one to install.

since on one has replyed I can tell you that on the manual trannys theres a lock nut under the boot. Loosen that and unscrew the knob. Sorry thats all I got

I believe the the automatics are the same way. You may be able to use and open-end wrench at an angle to get it or try a crows foot wrench. If you use the crow's foot try one that goes on a 3/8" ratchet.

Seems I remember its a 15mm lock nut that you turn while holding the knob (at least on my 240Ds)

I'm not sure what you're talking about. We just had the 300SD painted a few months ago though, but we didn't go to MAACO.
