Hybridization woes
After two weeks of banging my head against a wall, I've come to the brilliant conclusion that I need to ask for help. I have installed a 5 cyl turbodiesel engine from a 1984 300SD into a 1983 240D manual tranny body. (kept the manual tranny) The problem is this - the vacuum systems and the electrical systems are not quite the same. I have printed out all the diagrams from the vacuum diagram sticky; but it seems that for some reason what I have doesn't exactly match up to what's there. Also, the Haynes manual is worthless regarding the vacuum system and the electrical system. (or I'm an idiot - which is also possible). For any of you that have done a similar swap - what references did you use to get through this troubleshooting? Is there anyone in the St. Louis area with knowledge of mercedes vacuum that would be willing to help in exchange for beverage and food? My mechanic doesn't want to touch it with a 10 foot pole. Right now, all I'm trying to do is get the engine to shut off. I have all the lines (as far as I can tell) isolated to only the two to the IP. I do not have a vacuum gauge or a mityvac (I know I need to get both). The vacuum pump on the SD engine worked fine before the swap. I remember reading something about the IP shutoff being stuck ?open?? how do I see if that is the case? Sorry about the long post, and thanks for any help.
