1993 300D 2.5L Update
I replaced the motor mounts on my car.
I used a piece of wood that was about 1.5 ft x 1 ft x 2 inches under the oil pan. Watch for the protruding curvature of the oil pan bolt on the oil pan. I used a chisel to chip off some wood in that area of my wood support so it does not have contact with the oil pan bolt. There r 2 bolts on each motor mount, both 17mm; one at the top and the other at the bottom. I removed both bolts from one mount, placed the wood on the whole oil pan and jack it up in the middle of the oil pan until I could pull the old mount off. I had to jack it a little higher to get the new mount into place. There is a small protrusion on the mount that fits into a groove on top. Got the bolts on, lowered the car and tighten the bolts. I then repeated the process for the other mount. The torque for the top bolt is 55 Nm and the bottom is 25 Nm. Can someone tell me where the aux fan relay and preresistor located on this car ? I am going to replace both. |

The aux fan relay and preresistor are 'B' and 'C' (I think) in behind the fuse box. There are 6 screws that you need to undo and then the frame around the fuse box and in behind it lifts away revealing a bunch of relays.

I have looked in the fuse box after lifting the 6 screws.
There seem to be 3 small 1" x 1" relays and a long black box that is about 3" x 1". What or rather which is B and C ? I looked at pics of the preresistor and there seems to be a similar piece next to the dryer behind the driver side front head light. Could that be the preresistor ? There seems to be a wire that runs to the aux fan. I would appreciate any help u can give. Thanks |

Also, I wanted to replace the strip fuse on the preglow box that is mounted on the driver side fender.
I looked in the box and it did not have one. I have replaced the strip fuse on my 83 300D and the fuse is in that box held by 2 screws. Where is this strip fuse on this car ? Or does it have the same fuse ? |

I believe the space at the front left (standing in front of the car) of that space is called "A", then behind that is "B", then "C". I can't get at my manual right now that has a picture of this because I am no where near home, but in my car I believe B and C were the first two on the left side because I didn't have an A relay. I think on mine, there are little stickers on the bottom of the relays "B" and "C" that indicate which one they are. I haven't replaced mine as I've had no need to. My aux fans work just fine still. The pre-resistor is not in that box. One of those relays is the aux fan relay, one is the aux fan pre-resistor relay. The relay itself is somewhere down near the front of the car on the driver side. If I had my car here with me I could check, but can't do that or even look at the manual.
