I'm working through my P0180 fault code, fuel temperature sensor, and need to run three tests to determine which part is the problem. Not sure if the tests need to be done in order or if they are independent of each other. I've got one bad test, but could not do the first test which is a voltage test with the ignition on and the pins in the electrical connector connected. I can't really back probe it, so I'd like to get the "tool" that is indicated in the WIS. It apparently fits between the plug and the electrical contact and would allow me to test the voltage with the ignition on. The tool is called a socket box tester, 126 pin. Is this a Mercedes only type tool or can I pick up something similar at an electrical store? I really don't want to start throwing parts at the problem. I'd like to fix the broken part the first try. If all else fails, I guess I can have the dealer run the test for me, but I hate to do that.
Thanks.
