Starting/Rough Idle Problems!
I have a 1981 300SD that is currently very sick that I have been asked to work on. The problem that it is having is when you try to start the car after sitting for more than 4 hours, you have to use starting fluid to get it to start. This is required in 100 degree heat. Once the car is started, it idles very poorly, yet it is extremely powerful down the highway (one of the most powerful diesel benzes I have ever driven). I have checked the glowplugs and they appear to be operational. I have also tried bleeding the fuel system before starting, and still no dice. Here's the funny part - every once and while the car will idle normally, but it is not dependant on the temp and the weather. Very strange. Any input? Thanks!
