did you ask
the salvage yard guy to check his interchange book? it wil tell.
otherwise i would look at the tranny and see if all the interface points between the car and tranny are the same. if they are i would probably put it in. is it from same year? tom w

The "other" one is from a later model 123. I do not know the exact date that the change was made but it is referred to as a six bolt pan tranny versus the earlier 4 bolt pan.

The switch was sometime around 1981 or 82. My 83 Coupe came with a 78-80 300SD engine in it, bolted to the 83's transmission. Not all the bolt holes lined up, so whoever did the work only used 3 or 4 bolts to hold it in, which did hold but the thing almost fell out on me when I was removing it thinking there were still upper bolts holding it in.

To find out what a prticular MB transmixer fits, you need to take the info off the machined area just above the pan on the right side. There should be 2 sets of numbers. One is the part # which usually isn't much help. The other set of #s goes like this: 722.xxx. Those 6 #s will tell you what it fits when looked up on trans fiche. There is also a serial # which may be important in a cross over year.
