Last week, my wife accidently refueled the 240D with Kerosene. If I remember correctly, this is only a problem with long term use .... I think it will cause burnt exhaust valves. I discovered this yesterday when I was glancing thru the fuel receipts (6 gallons of k1). I promptly filled-up with #2. My wife assumed that the fuel island that was separate from the gasoline pumps at an unfamiliar Amoco was diesel (I know for certain that they don't even carry diesel). She said that "it sure smelled like diesel because I remember getting it all over my hands". Thank God it wasn't gasoline.

Wrong fuel

I would drain as much as I could and refill with diesel and add Redline just to be safe. I have seen diesels run on Kerosean.

IMHO you can burn kerosene without any problems. My owners manual states that you can burn #1 or #2 fuel. Years ago, we always mixed kerosene and diesel when it was cold, to keep the fuel from jeling.

I live in Colorado and have never seen kerosene in a pump at a fuel station. I know this may be a silly question, but why is kerosene available at a pump? Do you not have winterized diesel fuel available where you live? Or do you use it for something else?

Your diesel will run just fine on kerosene. If you think it might harm your engine(it won't)pour in some oil or trans. fluid. Back in the '60s I ran a 220D on a kerosene mix of 5 gal.kerosene and 1/2 pt.30W oil. Back then kerosene cost five cents a gal.No tax on kerosene. Diesel fuel sold for around 30 cents/gal.with tax.
