Ticking when cold

Now that cold temps are here, when my '95 E300D sits outside overnight, it tick-tick-ticks in the morning at startup.

Naturally, I think "oh crap, the valves", but there's plenty of good oil and the ticking seems to come from below the car where the tranny is. Not from above the engine, but below and behind. Couldn't be valves.

Any guesses?

Hey, would it be the injectors? I know our E300D nails when it is cold at idle. Initially it is pretty quiet, but one the glow plugs turn off, the nailing slightly increases.

I am thinking of running some lubro molly sometimes soon
