69 220d IL to MT
Leaving Ottawa IL for Bozeman MT today. The 220d started this morning at 6 degrees below zero Fahrenheit. Will post on performance during trip when I get to Montana (hopefully).

This morning in Whitefish, MT. ( northwest corner) it is, too dark to read the thermometer, but the weatherman said it was to get to -16 last night. BRRRR.
The 87 300TD started yesterday, of course yesterday it decided not to shut off, and this is just before I changed the fuel filter and oil,but that is another story. THe 98 E300 though is solid as a rock for two weeks now, forgot to add diesel to the biodiesel. Today I will have AAA take it to my shop at work for a nice couple of days of balmy storage. GAry |

Cool--literally. Did you dare shut it off at 30 below?

Ralph69220d--
It's a small world, as I live in Streator...just 20 minutes south of Ottawa. If the weather here ever clears up, I'd love to check out your 220d sometime. I've been leisurely looking for a 240d with a manual trans for another project and haven't had much luck. Maybe I can expand the search to include a 220d as well. Shoot me an email sometime... I only shut it off when refuelling. My battery is undersized, though I do have a block heater and charger with a 100amp "start mode". It's 25 above here in Bozeman today, so I'll see if I can start it with just the block heater and charger/starter. I am most impressed by the power of the 220d; most of which I attribute to having adjusted the valves before leaving Illinois. |
