Just wanted to update my progress with 87 300TD. 188,000

Replaced fluid and Seal/filter in Tranny and added Trans X (Car now engages and seems to be working properly)

Car is running warm. I do not let the car get past 100degrees. I just replaced headgasket. No way do I want to pull it again.

I removed the top radiator hose and no water is circulating. I believe it is probably a bad waterpump. Water should be circulating. (Let me know what you think) I did replace the thermostat with oem from benz.

I cleaned the injectors with diesel purge and replaced filters and also cleaned fuel tank filter. Nailing settled down and smoothed out. 3 out of the 6 injectors are leaking and there is some grey smoke coming out. Do you recommend rebuilding them?? I am leaning toward that. Need opinions.

So my two issues now are cooling and smoking. Need your help. Thanks for all your suppory guys!!!

You're sure it's the waterpump and not the thermostat? Do you get heat from the cabin heater when the engine is up to temperature?

Nope no heat what so ever!!!

The theromostat is brand new form Mercedes benz. I did not check it prior to install.

Well, it sure sounds like it could be the waterpump, the thermostat shouldn't affect the heat. Any noise or leakage from the pump?

Pull the t stat and see if that resolves the problem. Is the pump leaking at all?

No water weep or any noise that I am aware of. I bought the car and it did not run it was overheated and warped the head but did not crack amazing. #14 head I had it pressurized and was shocked. Rebuilt head valve job, resurface, stem seals ect.

I should have replaced the water pump but said not that big of deal to replace. Absolutly no heat is comming into the cabin and like I said I do not see any circulation in top radiator hose.

The water pumps on these cars are pretty simple and reliable. It isn't a bad idea to replace the old water pump but it may not be your problem. I'd pull it off and inspect it. I suspect the t stat isn't opening. A few people have had bad t stats out of the box, you wouldn't be the first.

Strange, it seems unusual for a waterpump to just stop pumping without leaking or getting noisy. Is it possible there is a flow blockage someplace? The only easy way I can think of to check that would be to flush water through the engine with a hose and make sure it's clear of obstructions. Other ideas?
