87 SDL - how much ATF to add

I'd rather not play the trial-and-error game since I don't park on level ground at home or at work. I'm usually in a hurry during the day and it's dark when I drive home at night ATF level is below the lower dipstick mark by 3/4 the distance between the lower and upper marks. How much fluid should I add? I'm guessing half a quart should do it. Any better guesses?

Thanks,
Sixto

Good question. I checked after a 50 mile freeway run.

I stopped by a liquor store at night, checked ATF level, checked for pulse and wallet, bought a lottery ticket

Yes.......1/2 quart (1 pint) is definitely too much. In fact, 1/2 this amount will probably be too much. I recently added about 1 cup (1/2 pint) to cure a similar situation and the level ended up ABOVE the high mark.

A word to the wise: ADD LESS

I agree with Brian. I also had the same scenario with my SDL. The level was below the minimum so I added about half of a pint and now it is above the max !!
