The only thing I can think of is maybe the IP is getting weak and leaking down. After I rebuild it next year I'll see if that changes anything.
I suspect it is fuel or maybe even electronics related. Maybe the ELS is somehow causing this?
It certainly isn't compression because my 617 will blow the oil cap off while the 603 has a slight suction. Oil consumption is far higher on the 617 as well it is pretty tired. It won't start in the mid teens without a block heater, or a shot of starting fluid.
Several other people with a lot of time on both engines seem to notice this as well. I am leaning towards fuel or design.
