New steering damper made it worse

I just installed a new steering damper on my 1984 190d, and I got in her expecting to drive on silk, but the vibration is worse now than before. My hands on the steering wheel I can't feel that the tires are out of balance (I've been throught that). The steering wheel feels smooth. I just can't seem to pin point where the vibration is comming from. Think maybe that a transmission mount, or motor mount might be causing this? I appreciate your help.

Hugh

a new damper is only gonna control the side to side vibration(felt in the steering wheel.are your balljoints good?, how about the guide rod mounts?

Have you rotated the wheels? You could have a bent rim. Also is anything else lose up their? You need to get the front end of the car off the ground and start prying, pulling, and inspecting stuff. Something is lose.
