I don't think it *sold* for that...sold implies the deal has closed...I bet that car turns up back on ebay. Check the bid history...it's a classic case of bid manipulation. There was no *Sale* here, just a couple of shills having some fun. Might as well have finished up at $200,000.

Why do you say it didn't sell?
It met the reserve price.

Just because the bidders have zero feedback means nothing.
Many people who buy cars, guitars and other high dollar items on eBay,
are 'first time buyers'.

What would be the point of having shills bid something up
far beyond where similar items usually sell?

You are speculating and presenting your thoughts as facts.

Sold? maybe...transaction completed I doubt it....

Wanna bet that bidder fails to complete the transaction by actually paying for it?

I'm curious if it was actually paid for and transfered to the new owner. Will we ever really know?

That dealer has a great record and always has nice cars.
He is in Naples. I lived there for awhile.
The town is full of homes that are 2nd, 3rd or 4th homes for wealthy people.
Right now, it is the 'Season', so the rich suckers are in town.

I can easily picture some of them dropping $20k on a sweet vintage Benz
and not giving it a second thought.

If anyone really wants to know, you could probably just ask the seller, in a week or so,
or just watch their auctions to see if it's relisted.

not likely sold.

main bidder had (O) feedback... his buddy was probably the "legitimate" one.

They were trying to bait one of those seasonal people. However, those people didn't get their moeny by being stupid.

You are jumping to conclusions.

Look at his feedback.
3 recent sales were to people with '1' feedback.
They probably had zero, before they bought a car from him.

I love my car, but if the person who bid $20K actually paid the money and is interested in another one, he/she should send me a private message....

Who knows, maybe I'll even let them negotiate down to $19K.

Thumbs up

I have to agreed with you. Here's why. Look at the sale of the 92 300 TE wagon sold on Dec. 21, I bought that car. Considering the condition of the car and the price I paid I have no complaints, I'm very satisfied. I had the the car shipped to me by enclosed carrier sight unseen. The person I dealt with, Leif, was very, very, helpful. All my questions were answered and all service records were obtained by him and faxed to me. They also had $1000 worth of work done on the car before I bought it, the invoice for that work was also provided. I think they are very honest.

I highly recommend this seller. And not I'm not related to them or get anything from them.

I want to find out who bid it because I'd sell them my SDL in a second for $3k less.

Then I'd laugh at the suckers as I bought an 01-02 E320 with the cash with 40k miles on it.

Wow. I love that color combination. It's the same exterior and interior as my old 85 300D. ( minus the rust and some wear on the drivers seat...)

I paid a bit lower than $20K.....

To even gauge the value of something like this,
you cannot compare it to cars of a lesser condition.

Truly unique specimens that are in magnificent condition,
can bring a hefty premium, over the accepted price for that model.

These cars may also be increasing increasing in value.
It was inevitable.
