sypmtom of turbo oil drain seals?
'83 300 D 148k.
Yesterday while performing an oil change, I noticed underneath that oil seems to be leaking from the plastic U-shaped tube at the turbo. Would this be indicative of oil drain seals needing replacement or something more sinister with the turbo itself? Thanks in advance. |

In my '90 W124 300D I recently changed:
the top (paper style gasket) at the Turbo, the bottom (paper style gasket) at the Engine, just above the oil pan, and 2 O-Rings in between the three rods which make up the return oil pipe. It's been about 2000 Miles, and havn't seen any oil yet. So unless there is a crack, a simple change of these seals will do the trick. Cost about $15 at MB dealer and 1 hours work. (Good insurance to have, for a oil leak free engine). Make sure you clean off with sand paper, the old (paper style gaskets) before applying the new ones. Regards. |

Quote:
if its leaking from the utube that means there is oil in the tube. its from the crankcase vent. not uncommon on older engines
