Again, we have something sinister going on with the bidding. A brand new bidder (zero feedback) has placed the last three bids on the vehicle. This is indicative that he is willing to pay significantly higher than the current bid price.

The vehicle is in quite good shape, but the photos are certainly not good enough to command anywhere near the current bid.

Something is amiss.........as usual.......

Ya know its funny how much more $$$$ the diesel versions bring over the gasoline engines. My uncle just recently sold his 89' 300TE wagon on E-bay. It was in excellent condition and only went to $2500, but it sold. Seems to me his was as nice as this $13,000 example.

I doubt it. That's how 124 wagon seats are contoured.

If you will notice the back seats on my uncles 89' 300TE, they are a little pushed in and this car rarely had the rear seats used. The original owners normally had the seat folded down, as they hauled their paintings around in it.

Looks like the same car was listed five days ago on s.f.bayarea craigslist for $1,000 less.

ya know, ive always wondered why they quit making blue interiors.

that white on blue wagon is *SO* nicer than the diesel! im, however, a fan of the avacado green 123/126 interiors too; that has to color this comment.

maybe this is just a reaction to the current $13k economy car? ever think that a kia rio costs as much, is brand new, but wont last near as long or offer the safety and high build quality of the benz.

within that context, this 100k mile diesel is surely the better deal-- i know id rather drive it than some dinky toy with a 1.5l engine.

Why amiss? The bidder apparently registered in ebay with the sole purpose of buying that car. He or she may have been looking for that combination unsuccesfully - who knows, but if true then price is less important than possession. The last bids are what it took to go higher than the previous high bidder as in the first ones the new bidder's bid was followed immediately by a proxie bid which continued until that prior bidder's maximum had been surmounted. That this winner entered into bidding at near the last minute only speaks to his or her intelligence. There is only one winning bid in any auction. Anyone who makes bids during the course of an auction is only a fool who has raised the price. (once reserve if there is one is met)

There's nothing suspicious about that auction, nor do I find it surprising that the bid was as high as it is. That's a very reputable outlet and there's a safety in buying from one of those. That seller has been doing business for well over twenty years under that name. The car IS a relatively hard model to find, and all bidders in ebay are competing against a potential millions of other interested parties.

Also, ineon makes a very pertinent observation. At an even higher price that is twice the car as can be had new for that money, it's being used notwithstanding.

The high bidder did not enter a bidding war at the last minute. At the time I posted, he had the three high bids......all by proxy. Doesn't speak to any intelligence as far as I'm concerned. He could have bought the car for far less money if he was patient.

You're a fare more trusting person than I am. I'm not buying the "new bidder for the sole purpose of buying that vehicle" line for one minute.

The vehicle sold for much more money than it's worth.

I think it was a great buy. New owner just needs to

be fortunate enough to get a good serviceman or even better be good him/her self at maintaining the 603. It's hard to beat a clean body and no rust, low mileage Mercedes Diesel. I'd bet a doctor owned that car, previously. I learned the HARD way. But if you have a few "dollars" available to you, then a car like that was a blatant steal at less than $14,000.00.
