pull engine to re-ring 300SD?

Can an 81 300SD be re-ringed with the engine still in the car or does it need to be pulled?

The engine has to be lifted up to remove the upper oil pan. You'll be 70% of the way to pulling the engine, I'd pull it out and put it on a stand.

What are your compression numbers?
