240D 1983, Water leaking in the trunk

I own a 240d 1983 and i got water going in my trunk(right side only), visibly by the rear window seal, it's kind of dry (but the trunk seal is like new) and it was plane to change it but with my last mercedes(240D 1980 4speeds manual so no transmission problems) i had the same thing and i changed the seal but with no resolve...water was still leaking in the trunk...so before my mechanic ask me to much money for this, any idea on where this water is coming???

Don't rule out the trunk seal. Mine looked like new as well but it still had a couple leaks and when it rained I would see it. Crawl in there with a light and have someone pour water on it. You are likely to see it leaking in. I was a bit confused by the post but you put the window on the other car and that didn't fix the problem then it might have been a trunk seal too. This is the easy cheap option and only takes a couple mins. If you don't see a leak then I would look closer at the window. It is unlikely that if your last car was fixed and it still leaks that it was the window to begin with.

I like Addicted's solution. If you are too big to fit in the trunk, you might enlist the aid of a littler person.

Since we are in Oregon we know what to do about water leaks...lol.

Most likly your rear window seal if its driping fwd and down on that rounded part of the trunk lining to one side.

thanks addicted for the tip, it's a really good idea(and i will do it and i will check the trunk seal in the same time.) but Stevo did put his finger tip on the problem; it's driping fwd and down on that rounded part of the trunk lining to the right side. So from now...do you have any hints or tips to get rid of it because, like you know, i been there before and the guy who did change the seal(they are pretty rare...) don't know how too. is there a difference between seals(i mean a genuine mercedes(expensive) or anything i can buy on eBay can do. Should i put some solicone...before... i don't know...So Oregon's guys, it's your turn now...
thanks

Well I've never had to replace a rear window seal yet but I've read some posts about using aftermarket seals. Pretty much the concensus is don't. They end up not working and the OEM way is the only way to go.

I have a buddy with an SD that is replacing his Rear Window seal next week and I'm sure he will make an online tutorial. If you remind me and he does it I will post it on here.
