B2 piston question

Is it possible to change out the B2 piston without draining the fluid. I know some fluid will come out when the piston is removed. The reason I ask is that the fluid and filter were just changed recently. It is not that big a deal but I thought I would ask in case it is possible. I do know if the dogbone falls into the pan I will be fishing it out.

Yes, it is possible. The only drawback is if the little dogbone falls in after it goes through the hole, the pan will have to drop. In my case, I removed the B2 just to explore and it was broken. I temporarily repaired it with "alternative engineering" if you know what I mean and it has lasted 15,000 miles now. To hold the dogbone in, use a liberal amount of Transjel or if none is available, Vasoline is its closest cousin. The stuff melts away with just a little heat but as long as the parts are room temperature, you can apply some to the piston and dogbone and kinda mold them where you want and they'll stay. I used about a spoonfull of vasoline and it worked great for me. Maybe I got lucky but I did used to work for a transmission shop. Eric.
