This morning I started my M-B which had been setting for 3 days, temp was 24 deg. Engine started fine and idled perfectly. When pressing the accelerator, the engine would not accelerate or rev above 2000 rpm. It also smoked excessivly. Tried to drive the car and it would not go above 30 mph for about a mile. It then suddenly came to life, emitted a cloud of black smoke and has run fine ever since. It was like a switch had been turned on.
Vehicle had never done this before. ??????? 1993 M-B 300D 2.5 Turbo Thanks for the help, Lgriffi |

I have had some do that before, but I cannot explain it. I just let them warm up a few minutes and then take off.

Might have been just a little frozen moisture in the system somewhere. You also might want to treat the fuel just in case. I would not read too much into it. If car primes easily after a fuel filter change you might also want to dump the filter out if it is not too old and put fresh fuel in it before installing again. Water loves to hide in a low spot like that.
