14mm allen socket
I will be changing the rear diff fluid in the near future.
Trying to find a 14mm allen socket appears is harder than expected. Sears doesn't carry them or any regular 14mm allen bars. Hazet (of Germany) makes them. Ebay is a possible source. Is there a local domestic (USA) source for these? Where has everyone else gotten theirs? JWJ

I got mine 14mm allen wrench from here http://www.wihatools.com/.
I ended up buying two. I cut one in to a few pieces so I could put a piece into a socket. I called everyone in town to find one, and nobody had one. So I had to oder online. I think SnapOn sell a 14mm hex bit socket, but it is like $20. I bought 2 14mm allen wrenches from the link above for like $10.

My 14mm allen socket was an SAE 9/16" allen head socket that I filed down just a little bit on each side to make it 14mm.

I couldn't find anybody local either. Kinda funny that this is posted because I've been looking all week.
No Sears, Sears Grand, Autozone, Checker, Advanced Auto, Napa, or Carqust. All I found was Sears online only (so you gotta pay shipping.) PN 00999170000 And Snap on. PN's FAM14E and SAM14E. Snap on has free shipping, but the bit is already over $20.

I lucked out.
Found a package of three large bits........14mm, 17mm, and 22mm (IIRC)......at Autozone. One single package laying amid a pile of junk........typical stock all over the place........ But, it was under $10.00 |

There used to be a flat dog-legged wrench in all of the Benz tool kits that had a short 14mm hex on each end. Mine came in the kit for either the 190D or the 220D, so long ago I can't remember which. Don't know when they stopped including them, but keep your eyes out for the older car tool kits. This tool is very helpful, have used it to remove the drain and fill plugs for the manual trannies and the differentials.

I found mine at a local auto parts store, may have been Western Auto.
Snap On has them too but wanted like $20 for theirs. Cheers, Bill |

I had my local NAPA guy order one for me and it was 7 bucks and plenty long, enough to get a good grip on.

Northern Tool & Equip had a big box of Allens on sale a while back that I picked up for about $15. I'd say about eight SAE and eight Metric.
I just use a cheater pipe on the bar, worked fine... except for smashing my elbow into the concrete and having some roadrash.
