I didn't have time to fix the steering lock so I cut a small cube of plastic about 1/8 x 1/8 and filled it to fit in the hole down in the tumbler hole that has the tappered movable deal that keeps the lock from engaging. I then put the tumbler (with key in it ) back in with the little plastic block still jammed in. Works great but the car won't shut off and the radio only plays rapp..........! it works fine but the key buzer stays on till you close the door cost $0
fortunatly I have a European radio which will not play rap cr*p

an EXCELLENT solution
I cut a 0.2x0.4" piece of wood and put it into the opening with the mechanism in the unlocked position
voilà, no more column lock (or key in ign buzzer ??)

THANKS

Well on Phil's recommendation I decided to try the aftermarket ignition lock that fast lane sells for $78. Does anybody know how to remove the plastic electrical switch from the lock assembly? I think I will need to transfer it over to the new lock. Thanks. –Bryan

I figured it out. Turn to position 1, grip the body of the lock with one hand and give it a whack with the handle of a screwdriver on the electrical connection end. The aftermarket part seems to be of fine quality.
