Did you jack the car to get the clearance after it was on ramps?

I'm having a hard time visualizing that.

Sorry, no pictures. Once I had the front tires on ramps, there was sufficient clearance to unbolt and lower the bearing carrier. The come-along was hooked to the lower control arm and rear suspension. Basically, used as a "tie-down" to keep the tendency of the spring from pushing the wheel forward. With minor adjustment of the come-along, and just enough slack the carrier drops enough to remove the guide rod mount from the rear.

With a combination of tightening the come-along and lifting with a jack, the carrier bolts back in place once the mount is replaced.

I also used my come along, but tied it to the front bumper mount. One pull on a rubber bushing is not really going to hurt it, If it is that bad it needs to be replaced anyway.
