Another too clean to be true on ebay

Every time I see this seller I get frustrated. Almost all his cars have Maaco Paint jobs and smoke and mirrors. Notice the poorly taped lines and how the paint runs over the trim in some shots, the stick on wood on the upper panel and shifter fascias, blue paint on the roof drip rails, paint on the cruise box etc. Refinished wheels, he has refinished the rockers with a coat of paint, but neglected to finish around the passenger front jack hole, guage needles too orange to have over 200K. the "300D" isnt even stuck onto the trunk correctly.

It has all possible options by Mercedes-Benz including : power sunroof, power steering, high power am/fm/CD,4 speaker stereo sound system, wooden trim all around, yellow fog lights, air conditioning,CRUISE CONTROL,power locks and windows.Garage-kept quality vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with bumpers that can withstand an impact of 5 miles per hour with no damage to the vehicle's body or safety system although the bumper and related components may sustain damage, the bumper system on this vehicle conforms to the current fedral bumper standard of 5 miles per hour
When was everything up there an option except for the sunroof? Of course high power AM/FM/CD by Optimus (Radio Shack Brand) was optional in 1983 too....

He purposely keeps the ID's private so people cant email bidders and say "hey watch out for ____"

This is why I'm losing confidence in the ebay community.

Boy,

He musta spent HOURS typing all that info in

300SDog 05-08-2006 10:38 PM

Did anybody notice it looks like the guy pulled the clear plastic covers from headlight doors? I've done that myself and it's a neat trick when the clear plastic lenses crack. Unfortunately the exposed grills become a bug and dirt magnet like you wouldnt believe.

Jeezus, 24 bids, maybe I should sell some of my parts cars on E-bay. All I need is some armor all and to describe the wonderfully engineered german bumper shocks instead of saying that it seems to not have a motor. "Just needs a little shot of freon and it'll be just like new!" :speechles

There is a place in this world for the Maaco paint job. One with alittle overspray looks better than one with all the clearcoat faded along with the paint beneath. That car looks fairly decent.

HOWEVER

having said the above, just reading some of his add, I wouldn't buy anything from that fluff-miester if I had to walk everywhere I went! Just on principle, I wouldn't have anything to do with someone soooo full of crappage....
But, in reading part of his add, you will be happy to know that this is the rare auto tranny with torque converter.....

He didn't spend all his time typing. alot of that is cut and paste.

**edit**
Something else I thought of. What kind of person pays or bids that much for a car with such a snake oil type description. I can't imagine any of us would risk that type of coin on such a shady auction, so I guess there are those enthusiast out there that just don't know any better.......

Buyer Beware

Well I see a big ticket item with seller less than six feedbacks (red flag) you should have at least 10 positives, and not for $2.00 items, to sell a car on ebay. Unless he changed user names.

Also bids "kept private" is a red flag especially combined with the above

But you guys are great. The car looked clean and detailed, (but even a pig Benz cleans up nicely. It looked beautiful "from 20 feet away" but you guys nailed it.

Maybe it has NO BOOKS and RECORDS or as they say in Britain, "MBFSH"
full service history.

Still there is something special about a W123 Diesel. We'll never see the likes of them again.

All his ads are like that, he just changes the highliighted parts. The other thing I thought of, maybe he is using other people to jack the bid up.

I agree, the covers just look brand new, you can see the reflections in some of the photos.

Dial-up modem here.... i didnt bother to load beyond the first pic. But on second glance downloading into the 3rd pic I'd say you're right - cherry clean headlight doors.

But I dunno why everybody's bashing this seller. It looks like he knows what he's doing invoking the modern day car buying public. Personally I wouldnt spend more than $1200 for *any* car on ebay.... genuine bargains are the honest ones in original condition that need a little spit and polish.

That has got to be one of the NASTIEST valve covers I've ever seen.

It used to be black. They should have kept it.

pawoSD 05-09-2006 02:16 AM

That car looks like he went back in time and stole it when it was coming off the assembly line!!!!!! The tires even still have sticker shreds on them they are so new!!! 209,000 miles?? Where?! Inside an enclosed race track??? The gauge needles are the original color too!! w-o-w

That stuff on the valve cover almost looks to be the wax that they coated them with at the factory to keep it clean, the dealer was supposed to clean them off on arrival....maybe this one never did.

Hmmm,

I hope that he sells thousands of those cars on Ebay. People who are willing to bid that kind of money for a car that they have never seen or driven deserve what they get. The car buying public needs a serious reality check!!!!

pawoSD 05-09-2006 02:23 AM

I found another super looking one, this is a gangster mobile though, Black SD with tint! :D

Check it out!

I never thought it was a repaint until I read the above posts.

With that, I started seeing overspray. Never knew the plastic cover behind the front bumper and in front of the aux fan was painted too

Hella round conversions? New headlight bezels? New breather hose? New(ly) painted rims?
