Cruise Control acting strange... is it the amp?

Hi again. As you know I just bought a 1993 300D. When I was driving it from Tucson I tried to engage the cruise control. It engaged and accelerated stayed on for a moment, then kicked off, then kicked back on, then off again. I have read other threads taking about the cruise control amp causing problems. Do you think that is my problem as well?

Thanks,
PaulW

Ok so is the amp located under the dash as I've seen posted about on older models? I'd like to try the resoldering idea.

Thanks,
Paul

I also would try the resoldering idea, it didn't work for me, but it has for others.

Oh, by the way, my name is Paul W. too! Welcome to the forums!

Thanks Paul its nice to be a "Benz" owner.

Maybe I need to change my screen name here.

So can you tell me where the CC amp is located so I can pull this bugger?

PaulW

If its in the same place as on the other cars its a box located under the dash panel above the driver's foot area. Thats where it is on my car anyways, it might be different on your model.

cruise control amp

Yup, you need to remove the kick panel under the dash. be careful to get all the screws out and watch out - there are tabs at the back of the panel that hold up a plastic panel, and are easy to break.

I also found that removing the hood release latch made it much easier to remove and re-insert the kick panel.

Removal of the amp is tricky - there is a posting how to do it in response to a question of mine a while back, if you search this forum.

Good luck from another newbie MB owner.
