Maybe not. But how do you know it isn't better?

I prefer 5w-40 syn especially made for diesels.

Are you talking about Mobil Delvac (dino) or Mobil Delvac 1 (synthetic)? The synthetic is normally about $28.

Sounds like Mobil Delvac 1300 which costs about $8 a gallon at Autozone. You overpaid.

Delvac 1 has a list price of about $27 a gallon.
