what is typical mpg of 240D AT?

What city mileage does a 240D typcially get? These have first gear start, right?

Thanks,
Sixto

I'd guess 23-27mpg based on what my stick shift 240D gets I get 24 (flogging) to 28 (highway commute). Somewhere there are big threads on fuel economy (problem is that they are too big to sift through easily...)

I also get an average of 30 mpg in combined driving, with highway miles usually exceeding city miles by a large margin.

That's with a car having an engine and transmission in great condition, good wheel bearings, and no sticking caliper problems. The car really will coast a long way in neutral.

i used to get around 27-29 combined.
Now after a trip to houston, with a heavy handed Italian tune-up i am getting something more like 22-24 combined. But the car feels more powerful... almost like an actual car, i do not have anymore problem to keep up with traffic. 0-60 in 19 seconds!!!

Thanks for all the input. Does that mean no one creeps around the city in a 240D AT?

The early 240 automatics did not start in first gear... I have a '77. I believe thet the '80 or '81 started off in first on the automatics. I have toyed with the idea of putting a button on the shifter to open the kick down so it will start in first when needed.
