My new toy

Found this the other day on the side of the road. Offered the owner $400, he agreed. She runs ok and should be fun to play around with over the next few months. I'm toying with the idea of making it into a pickup truck...

My favorite bit, wood screw to hold the visor up.

well, the roof has a little rust on it...

We live in the desert so rain isn't really an issue except once or twice a year. The plan is that I'll sell the ford and then I figure I'll need something to haul stuff around town in. It's really more of a bizarre idea than anything. I guess you can take the boy out of Kentucky (where I grew up) but not the Kentucky out of the boy. I don't know what'll happen with it. I just need it for a few months to get to work and back. Then we'll see.

Basically, but I've always been more of an El Camino guy...

I'm somewhat of a purist myself and wouldn't think of doing that to a car that was in better shape. This Merc is pretty shot inside and it has rust issues on the roof plus the rear door seals are rotting so I don't think it's a big loss.

Not so sure the milage is accurate. The steering wheel looks like it's seen a little more than 140K. I'll do the tune up stuff when I figure out how and see what happens.
