Sold the Benz

Well, I went and did it. My wife and I sold her Benz. I can honestly say that I think I'll miss that car. There was just something about it that I always loved. We brought 2 of our kids home from the hospital in that car. I've deffinately had some milestones w/ the 300. It was kind of wierd driving off and watching as our old girl sat there with someone new getting behind the wheel.

Fortunately, it went to a great buyer. I've directed him to come here for any help he might need. He said he is interested in converting it to run on waste oil. So I'll be poping in from time to time to see what's happening.

See ya'll around.

Mine will be with me till it passes on, "for sale" is not even in my vocabulary for my car. I hope to own it another 20 years if possible, I doubt it will survive the salt that long, but I can try to keep it alive!!! I want to hit 700,000 with it, only 460,870 to go!

We replaced it w/ a 2004 Chevy Malibu. When we originally bought the car, we were very impressed w/ the quallity of it. Even after it was 20 years old it was still quite impressive. I hope to someday find another MB diesel. Maybe a 240D or something to buy as a project car. Maybe a frame-off restoration (or close to it). Just a hobby car.

For now, it's back to the world of gasoline. I no longer have diesel only in my garage.

Me either. My dad is the type that loves to get a new car every 3-5 years, always some kind of Chevy. Me, I think I'll keep my cars until they get wrecked or I'm too old to drive, which ever comes first. I love the simlicity and safety of these cars. Plus I'm always on the lookout to pick up another 300D. I've got three now and I've got my sights on a fourth.

Just think that if the person that bought your MB diesel takes good care of it, it will probably still be on the road long after your malibu has gone to the junk yard, taking all the $$$ you spent on it with it. I can't even fathom doing something like that.

Look yall, we love our diesels. Allot! But go back to the forum and start counting all the threads. These wonderful safe cars have problems all the time. Some folks can't take the risk of using them as a daily driver, at least not w/out a backup car.
Now, I think it should have been saved as a backup, but there are financial realities for all of us.
Just bide your time, and get another some day.

I maintain my car well, and in 33k miles of driving it in the past 2.8 years, it has never let me down. I am anal about maintenance and always make sure everything is good to go, and she is an extremely reliable car. I've gone as far as Washington DC in my car w/out a problem. (760 miles away) My cruise control just started working flawlessly comepletely on its own too, so I am happy with my car.
