AC working fine...and then...

The AC on my 84-300d turbo was working great until two days ago. Then the belt would occasionally squeal. Today, it squealed every 5 minutes or so and then there is a horrible clunking sound coming from around the compressor. I turned off the AC and the sounds stopped. The belt is still on, but is a little loose (but not THAT loose).

Any suggestions...?
