i personally like the original color. I wanted my SD to be painted that color and then my friend bought his 81 SD with that color and the 8-hole wheels. The perfect combo.....that bastard

Color is personal.

Why let a committee decide a color for you?

Choose the one you prefer. You're the one who's going to be looking at it for the next 10 years! We're not!

Those are some dark options for the Sunshine State....
How is your AC working ?

I think the Pearlescent White on the new Cadillacs is great...

When I repaint I will be using an early 70's MGB color called ' Snowberry'... when out in a parking lot it looks like an ordinary white.... but next to trees or grass and the slight hint of green is picked up and it Glows...
I painted a Volkswagon with it.. and people stopped me all the time complementing the paint...

I like the original as well. I've only ever seen one on ebay, but I thought it looked great.

Color is personal. It took awhile to pick the color for car. finally saw a Benz at a rest stop that we both liked and spoke with the owner. Our car is now petrel blue (green) with a silver lower half and bumpers. As for the original gray, my wife called it the KGB car. Again it's all personal. Done right any color will look good.

I agree, totally. What color you paint anything should be up to you. It’s not only your preference, but it says something about you as well. Don’t let someone else pick it for you. Go with a color you want to drive and be seen in.

My brothers first new car was a 1976 VW Rabbit, in Alpine Green. I love that color. I swore years later that if I ever purchased an aircraft that I got to pick the color, that would be it.
I was given color choices by Bell with the 407. I told them “no” to every one. “Paint it ‘76 VW Alpine Green !!” Everyone thought I was nuts. But, that was my choice, not someone else’s. Personally, I think it looks pretty cool.

(Not sure what it says about me though. )

You may want to look into the lighter side

Color is a personal choice no doubt, now if you are going to spend all that money for a new paint job, get one that YOU like and consider the life of the paint as well. Darker colors in FL will require much more work to keep from fading and sun damage so you may want to consider a lighter color combo. Luckily Palomino goes with pretty much anything, silver, bronze, white, creme, etc.

Of the colors you have listed, I personally would choose Manganese Brown.

1.) Its probably one of the rarest colors for a w123, and its absolutely goregeous. its a color that is very classy, yet packs a fun kick of energy- its eyecatching and captures light beautifully.
2.)It a medium tone color- not LIGHT like a cream, but not DARK like a black tone. You will be keeping a little cooler than you would with a dark dark color.
3.) Easy to keep clean
4.) Would look exceptionally HOT over your palomino interior w/ BLACK PIPING. YUM.

Id assume that you like all of the colors that you listed, right?
Which one are YOU more drawn to?

My only comment is that it is much more difficult (expensive) to do a good job of changing colors correctly. What are you planning on doing with the door jams, under the hood, inside the trunk, fuel filler, wheel wells, etc. If you are going to change colors, do it right.

Excellent points Craig!

If you are going to do the job, do it right. One of my favorite sayings.

Make sure the car is really straight if you opt for a pretty dark color. Probalby is already. Wetting down the old finish occasionally lets you have a preview.

Keep the color stock unless you paint the door jams, engine compartment, trunk area ect. Nothing looks worse then different color door jams.

You guys should not have your doors open when driving down the street...
Having someone else do a really good job on door jams and such would cost an arm and a leg... you can take your time and do those yourself after you get your car painted...
Have them save the extra paint and give it to you... then use one of those containerized spray outfits.. can not think of the name... red and white propellant and clear jar... cheap but very good since painting is all about prep and rub out...
