Unhappy Climate control problem

I just got my A/C repaired a couple days ago. The center "flapper valve" was found to be inoperative so no air was comming from the center vents. Air was coming from the side vents and alot from the defrost vents, causing the windshield to fog up. So I removed the dash and reconnected the vacuum switch to the flapper valve. Now air comes from the center vents, but a good amount still comes from the defrost vents. Climate control set on normal, MIN temp, and fan on high. Is the normal? If not what caused this and what will cure this?
Thanks, Kevin

kevin, on my 300td the vac pod was hooked up and did work....but the rod from the pod to the flap was not connected. Pull the pass. side kick panel, and glove box. Reach up on top of the duct system and see/feel the vac pod work and look in through the center vent...if it moves great.

If the flap does not move, push that black rubber boot up and outta the way and by feel see if the rod and flap are connected. If they are and if the flap operates, that's about as good as it gets....near as I can tell some air always comes outta the defrost vents. If they are not connected...find a very small, very smart child with little tiny hands...maybe they can thread a zip tie through the holes and make a connection. I could not get er done...I could feel what was wrong but even my smallish hands were to big.

I jammed mine open working through the center vents with a piece of vac hose wedged in place along side the flap. Crude, cheap, fast, and effective.

sorry I missed the part about you removing the dash...was everything connected??

Good luck
