My son and his 300d are 150 miles away and the fan clutch has gone out. Does anyone know if the clutch can be removed and bolted directly to the water pump pulley? I realize that this will space the fan back from the radiator by 2 inches or so but I don't think that this will be a problem. There is not a hope in hell of me buying a new clutch from MB and driving 300 miles to install it, but if the fan can be bolted to the pulley he can do that part of it.
