Free 1981 300SD!

OK, the catches...

It was wrecked when I hit a deer at 60 mph last year - the radiator, evap, oil cooler, etc are toast.

I've sold the easy stuff on Ebay - instrument cluster, climate control, etc.

It has to be gone by July 2nd, sooner if possible - my house is for sale and the realtor has no sense of MB esthetics...

The good...
189 original miles - I'm the second owner. Leather seats (not MB tex) are in good shape, no cracks. Even has the rear head rests. Kind of a beige color.

Engine was shutdown within seconds of hitting the deer, so I'm certain no engine damage occured. The car was running on vegetable oil at the time.

Trans worked well. Nearly new muffler system from the downpipe back.

Not much rust, mostly good body parts except for the front end.

Will roll - has 5 bundt pan wheels/tires.

Car is in Southern Maryland, near Solomons.

If you are serious and can get it, I'll hold it until this weekend. Poor Hans is getting towed to the junkyard this weekend if no one can claim him. Also, I may try to get the injection pump/injectors off this week, so speak now.

You can email at tenknots at lycos.com

I'm sure it is, I actually bought my 300SD from him (fourknots?). He was very up front about the car and seemed to take care of a lot of little things for me that I hadn't even asked him to do....

Oh, Good!

Glad to hear this. I just wish he would call me back, or respond to the emails.

Question Gosh, I do hope he doesn't live in rockville

I hear there is a lot of flooding and road washouts in MD. I hope this is not the reason for the lack of response.
If it is, I hope family and friends are OK

when you bought your car from him, did you go to his house, or have it delivered? If you went to his house, you may know how close it is to any of the affected rivers.
1100 evacuated and curfew's set at 9:00, evacuees to neiboring areas, the news sure sounds grim in that area.

Actually he's close to the bay and lives rather elevated if I remember correctly.

I'm really sorry I haven't been able to respond. I had to go out of town on an emergency, an offer on a house we're buying was accepted, AND our house that is for sale has been shown every day. It's been busy. Hans had to be towed while I was out of town because the realtors were going to do an open house. The open house never happened (another reason I have a problem with realtors), but Hans was nevertheless uncerimoniously removed by a guy named Skipper who drove a beat up black flatbed. When I came home, I nearly had tears, seeing the spot Hans has been in since the deer incident. Nothing but an oil stain and a couple of broken pieces of grill remained.

I really am sorry Hans couldn't have gone to a good home and I apologize for making anyone get their hopes up.

Also, thanks for the concerns about the flooding. We had no problems at home, but I sat in traffic for two hours on the Capital Beltway waiting for crews to clear a mudslide. There was also two feet of water in my office parking lot. Bizarre weather.

Some Realtor, if that was my listing I'd offer to remove it for you! I look at stuff like that as side perks!

Well, the good news is that we got an offer on the house. Don't know if Hans (or the lack thereof) made any difference, but 6 days to sell a house is good in my book!
