window stops partway in '84 300D

I am having trouble with the driver's side window. I can't get it up all the way. It will start to go up, but then suddenly stops once it is about 3 inches up. I checked the switch and the connection and they seem fine. I also removed the door panel and could not find anything that is physically stopping the window from going up. Also, there are no unusual noises when the window starts to go up.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any problems with the operation of the rear right window? Mine did the dsame thing, and I was inches from blowing $$$$$$ on a new motor, untill I realised that the opposite window in the back wasn't working at all. Changed the fuse (they are on the same circuit) and all was well.

Maybe try shooting some WD-40 in there. Does your car have any rust?

Sounds like there is something stopping it, even if you can't see it.

Well fuses aren't very expensive. I would have thought a bad fuse would manifest itself in a different way, though, i.e. those particular windows not working at all.

Take off the door panel and check to make sure that the lining of the bottom of the window track is not worn out and that the track is adjusted. As the window nears the top of its travel the bottom can come out of the track and bind up causing the window to stop short of the top.
