vapor lock diesel?

My car is an E300 Turbo Diesel with 180K and runs great. However, We made a trip into very hot country these last 2 weeks with temps as high as 120 degres. After being parked for an hour or so it would act like it would loose prime. The primimg proseger would start the car but it seems like a gas car doing vapor lock. If it would be really loosing prime I would think it would act that way after resting over night but it does not. Cool or cold mornings or more than 1 day it starts fine. Could it be possable to vapor lock like a gas engine? I have had the priming problem before and you guys on this forum said to repalce the O rings around the pump which I did and that was fixed. Vapor lock?

Thank you

I think you have another fuel leak...AFAIK vapor lock is not an issue in diesels...the fuel is not volatile enough to vaporize like gasoline is. Check under the hood for fuel leaks...did you change the o-ring at the fuel shutoff?

vapor lock

Thank you or your reply. I did not know that there is a fuel shut off. Where would it be? Anytime I have needed to shut the fuel off I have raised the front and clamped the fuel lines. A shut off would be helpfull. Thanks again.

nohuit,

Have U removed the fuel cap after a long trip and listened for air rushing into the fuel filler pipe?

If U hear air rushing into the fuel filler pipe, the vent for the fuel tank is plugged. That can happen and seem like like vapor lock on a gasoline car.
