Diesel Hose Size For Inline Filter

Can Anyone help with the correct size & type inline filter(small plastic) hose for a 1985 300D Turbo? I ordered some online but got the wrong size. They supply the sizes of many hoses but not their use. Metric or standard would be great. The driveway & the motor mounts don't like the diesel. Thanks

If it was me I'd go to the parts store, buy an inline filter and then shop for hose right off the spool (at the same parts store) that fits the filter. Probly doesnt matter if its metric or sae. I once replaced all the fuel line hoses on my '77 280SEL from the fuel tank to the engine using regular off the shelf American auto parts store hose, bought by the linear foot ($1.39 per) straight off the spool. I think you're nuts tryin to order specialized MB fuel hoses online or anywhere else.

Hose sized 5/16" should fit. I also switched to a clear inline filter with replaceable elements. It's easy to see if you are picking up any crud -- for me I can watch the slow disintegration of my cigar hose.

5/16" isn't exact fit, i believe, because the hose is supposed to be metric. i got some Conti hose from ******** AZ, and I believe it was 7.5 mm ID. That one fit nice and tight. You can go to their site - they have a LOT of different metric hose sizes for our fuel system

Find Viton in metric sizes...
I don't have any leaks with standard hose clamps - 5/16" fits just fine.

I believe 7.5 mm is correct. I'm about to buy the same hose and just measured the end of the pre-filter. It appeared to be 7.5-8 mm so I'm sure the 7.5 would fit.

Thanks for all the replys. I actually got the hose from AZ. However they have so many types of hose.I even called but they cannot specify a use. I was told "I am not a mechanic". This is sad because because I buy alot of stuff from them for my 6 Benzs and have never had a problem. One has to love the free shipping. They said no problem to return it but can't tell me the right size? And yes I am "nuts" to want to use the correct German hose.It may be the original and only now leaks. My 5/16" hose seems to need so much torque on the clamp not to leak;that cracking the neck of plastic filter may be possible.
