New Forum dedicated to the 1987 W124 300TD and 603 engine.
Although I'm a respectible shade tree mechanic, I'm a new owner of a 1987 300TD Wagon and have much to learn.
There's so much info on other models here and other MBZ forums....that I've started a Yahoo Group dedicated specifically to discussion of the W124 vehicle and 603 (OM603.960) engine. Not trying to take from this fine forum...just want info focused on this vehicle. This engine, I've learned, is also used in the 1986-1987 300SD and 300SDL (OM603.961) so discussion of that vehicle/engine combo is also welcome. Dedicated discussion of this vehicle and engine is starting at..... http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/1987MB300TD. Everyone is welcome Warren C. |

Great idea, I still searching for a good '87 down here in Southern Cal. Lotta beat up cars with owners expecting eBay type dollars.
Patience is the name of the game. |

The supply and demand issue is naturally driving the prices of these cars up. Heck, that "ocean-sides" wagon on ebay right now is pegged at 8600. That pearl-gray one with 238,000 miles.
Nothing beats seeing the car in person, though. You cannot judge a car simply by looking at pictures with scanned records and the like. You have to BE there to witness its character and charm. And the seller better sign off on his word. What he tells you needs to be put in writing for future settlements. I take pictures for my father's website (www.ejzcars.com) from time to time. Its a PITA to get the right shots. The best time for photographic proficiency is during overcast (also, only 1 megapixel, and New England weather doesn't help). Even so, you don't know HOW its going to look until you plug into the serial port at the back of your computer and upload the images. I do not have a laptop. As such, it becomes a major inconvenience. As I stated before, You need to see, drive, inspect thoroughly (underbody, exhaust, brakes + rotors, blowby, various oil leaks, etc.) I will definitely join that group of yours. Although I don't have an '87 wagon, per se. My father does. Its one of the cars listed on our site for sale. I have two diesels (603) and a gasser (103). All are W126, of which I hold extreme bias for. Any site involving the discussion of the many intricacies of the 603 is a fine place to spend my leisure.
