Angry You guys were right!

So I was talking about in another thread about the price of a valve cover gasket job. Well I went back to the guy today to see these rims he was going to sell me for $50 apiece. They were the 86-91 style S class rims. 15 x 7 I suppose. They fit but shady dude only had 1 out even though I insisted on all 4 being out when I got there. But he was about to close so I said I would come back cuz they fit. But I said "so where are the lugs"? He said "oh there are not included" they are $5 a piece from the dealer. Which I can comprehend but you would think they would have been included or stated so previously. So the $200 set would now be $300 with lugs and still used. I am rather P.O off about it. Another example of "if you want it done right, do it yourself and figure it out". Just ranting!!!
Dude seems shady and kinda sucks cuz I would have liked the comfort of knowing he is across the street from my house. Oh well, it will work out eventually I suppose.

It's just as important to share the bad experiences as the good, maybe more important, 'cause from the bad we learn more. At least you asked about the lugs before committing to the purchase!

The guy with the rims is looking out for himself. You are number two and must look out for yourself.

The lugs are about a half inch longer on those wheels than the ones on the "bundt" type rims. Don't work and look like crap.

Really? I could have sworn I bolted the 15 holers on my SD with the lugs that were holding the original wheels on.

MB got rid of those stupid bolts with the necks so the new ones look just like the ones my SD came with.

That's not possible.

The Bunts use the short bolts. The 15 hole wheels use a bolt with the spherical seat much further out toward the face of the wheel. The original bolts are even longer to allow the head of the bolt to sit flush with the face of the wheel.

I have the third ones, in chrome on the Bellows. I am pretty sure I have used them on the 15 holes as well. They just don't have that neck, thats all.

I also have several sets of the ones with the necks, I think 2-3 kind of collect them. So maybe I am mistaking, I have a lot of wheels and bolts for these cars.

Be careful. If you used the SD's bolts on the 15 hole wheels, you probably are only engaging two or three threads.

Nope now I remember, I used the bolts with the neck on the SD. Because the 15 holes I stuck on were painted, and the top of this set of bolts was painted to match. I use the short ones on the SDL because the necked kind would stick out. But the short ones Tirerack sent me have the same thread length as the stock bolts with the neck.

Lets see I have a set of bundts which I don't use.
Two sets of 15 hole wheels, used to have three gave one to Brian.
And the Bello's that the SDL usualy rides on.

I must have 4-5 complete sets of bolts. I even have a locker set with chrome heads that I don't use.

When i bought wheels off a E320 for my 300D the guy gave me the set of lugs so they would fit on the W124. Chrome wheels with lugs for $120...thats a bargain!
