i Read somthing interesting in the paper today

of course i alway get stuck working the sunday shift of 12 hours, anyways it gives me time to sit.... think..... read.... and get paid . anways ive been having this clutch "shutter" since i got the car, until it warms up, and i read about this miata that was ahving simular problems with the shuttering, the car guy said more than likley some oil was getting onto the clutch which would explain the "shuttering" the guy also said that most people wouldnt believe that when crap like oil gets in were the clutch is, that it actully grips instead of slipping like most people would think.. u guys think this is true?>??

Here's a test,,,

Put some oil inbetween two flat metal plates. Now try to pull them apart without spinning or turning either one,,, next to impossible, so I believe that oil in there could cause the clutches to stick,,, but I've never torn one apart to see how the thing is actually made.

How about this
put some oil all over the disc brakes on the car, and see how well it stops.

Same concept with the clutch. It has friction material to grip to 'make it go' so if you have slippage on one spot, when taking off, you will have shuddering because its not gripping at that particular spot, its slipping.
