caliper rebuild kits

Has anyone bought the caliper rebuild kits from fastlane? I got some but the kits don't seem to match the original very well. The heat shields are totally different & can't seem to get them to fit. Any feedback on this appreciated. Thanks

The heat shield on the Bendix calipers has an interference fit to the piston and is very difficult to install without the proper tool. It's spec is .004" below the piston face, but getting it there without mangling it is no easy task.

It's one of those jobs that the rebuilders have down cold, with the correct tools.............and you don't.

That's what I just found out. I have the ate & I ordered the bendix kits. I didn't realize that they were different unitl I did a retake on the parts pic's. Well, I guess I will have to re-order the right parts for the calipers. Sometimes it can be very frustrating dealing with these kind of set-backs!!

I just buy "loaded" (pads installed) rebuilts from the local "West Bay Auto Parts", never had any problems nor has anyone I know around here. They have a place that "does a good job on calipers", was the word I got.

As they say in the Hertz commercial ... " Not exactly "

Quicker to order/install reman's, as shop labour eats up time with a seal kit and then you might find corrossion on the pistons. Besides...either ATE or Bendix fit the vehicle.
