In a nutshell:
- set engine to 15* ATDC. Use a mirror or probe to feel for the timing lug. Fit the IP lock tool. If the lug isn't visible/feelable, give the crank a full turn to 15* ATDC then look/feel for the lug. - release injector line clips along the manifold, disconnect injector lines from both ends - disconnect the electrical connectors from the IP - disconnect the fuel lines from the IP (from tank and filter) - disconnect the vacuum and boost lines from the IP - disconnect the throttle and cruise control linkages/cables - remove the vacuum pump - zip tie the chain to the IP timer - remove the bolt that goes through the IP timer and IP. CW to loosen! - if you can, put a clocking mark in the IP timer and IP shaft - remove the chain tensioner - remove the 3 IP bolts around the vacuum pump hole - remove the cruise control actuator - remove the IP bolt and bracket at the back end of the IP - slide the IP backwards until it clears the block. Don't worry about the timer or the chain. Mind the timing adjustment pieces. Sixto ... stay tuned |
