ALDA Plastic Lines

It looks like the PO apparently bypassed the overboost valve to the ALDA - the lines are just cut.
1. I'm assuming this is bad as an overboost can occur and melt a piston.
2. Does anyone know where I can find replacement plastic lines for the overboost protection or something I can use as a repl?

Is anybody running with this bypassed?

Thanks!

Wink

My switchover valve was bypassed also. While doing the ALSA banjo bolt cleaning the old hose snapped. So I am temporarily using some clear poly tube from Home Depot. The specs are 1/4" or .25" outer diameter, 3/16" or .17" inner diameter.

I put the switchover back in to the circuit and drove the car around taking hills, etc.

I did notice it has a little more pickup and the tranny shifting improved.

I will get the real ALDA hose as I go down my list of things to do on my 85 300D turbo.

I wonder if that Home Depot hose can't be used permanently. I put some of that on my banjo bolt about four months ago and so far so good...

The price was certainly right at $1.99 for something like 20 feet.

You're really lucky - I did that too, but mine keeps cracking - it must be the heat in the engine compartment, so I've been contemplating getting a 'real' hose sometime soon...

Unfortunately, Phil does not carry the line from the banjo bolt to the switchover. He e-mailed me and indicated it was a dealership item.

**************.com does have them though. I just ordered one. $26.45, includes shipping.

wow

That is one expensive piece of tubing! I think I'll try the HD tube first - even if I have to replace it every 6 mths. Thanks for the info.

$26 for plastic tube? Geez, stick with rubber vacuum or fuel line tube for $2/foot.
