What do numbers on temp sender mean ?
I have two temp sending units for my 300D.
Exact same part number and markings like 120C. But on one of the hex flats is the number 9.79 the other sender has 6.81. Anybody know what this means ? My guage runs warmer than I am used to and I suspect that the engine is not overheating. The 6.81 marked sender is from my donor car, the 9.79 is from the original car and dash that I am using. Do these senders have OHM ratings ? Even though the part number matches ?

Just a guess, but if the part numbers are the same, and looking at the year if your driver, and your donor car, I'd guess that is month and year the senders were made. Just a guess, Chuck

So I switched from the donor car sending unit marked 6.81 to the original one marked 9.79.
The temp guage is behaving as I remembered it (lower readings). So, either the sending unit I pulled out is bad (I guess I will test it) or there are subtle differences.
