W123 Rear Bumper

The rear bumper came off the rubber block on one side. I searched through and it seems there's really no easy fix for this. Has anyone had any success getting the bumper back on to the supports? I am thinking to drill through the bumper and the rubber support and try to bolt it on. I have gorilla glued is and it's holding but I know it won't hold for long. When a junk yard bumper is bought, how does it usually come? With support things attached? I cant believe there's no fix for this.

Thanks for any advice.

yes it can be drilled and bolted. but it is a bit of a pain. i have also fixed them by inserting a 4x4 block of wood inside and bolting that to the car and the bumper to that. you lose the shock action but the bumper is on there and it looks fine. the bolts can be hidden under the rubber rub strip.

the best is if you can find a good used bumper. but there arent many around any more.

Best technique for the easy fix is remove the mounts from the car (6x17mm bolts) then use flanges or metal straps to secure the rubbers and mounts to the bumper with short sheet metal screws tapped into the bumper back.

Its an incredibly easy fix that just requires a little ingenuity. I used heavy cable hold down flanges like you see on telephone poles to fix mine.

And dont worry about 17mm bolts not lining up when you remount the bumper. The shock portion rotates and rubbers fit easily at only one location in the bumper back.
