Exclamation HELP! -27 and NO FAN!!

Lastnight, when I parked the car in my spot, the fan was on the DEF setting.
So naturally it should turn on in that setting when I turn the key the next morning. it's -27*C out now, and I have NO fan control whatsoever. I can hear the relays and vacuum solenoids clicking, just no fan motor...
I should be at work right now, but I can't drive on the highway with no fan!

probably worn out brushes. Do a search. Its a very easy fix. In the meantime, put on a heavier coat and get to work, you bum!

Depending on how old the fan is, and also the condition of the grease in the bearings, sounds like the grease got too cold and is now acting like loc tite.

I'm thinking if the brushes were almost gone, the shrinkages of -27 would pull the contacts apart just enough for no response. See if it fixes itself when it gets slightly warmer.

Motor was seized...

went to turn it and it hung up for a half second, then I could feel and hear windings breaking...next question..how do I get the squirrel cage off the shaft?

Have someone hold the squirel cage, prefarably wearing gloves (ouch!) while you tap the shaft of the fan motor with a hammer and pin punch.

Always worked for me. Do this close enough to the ground that the motor won't free-fall once freed from the squirell cage!

I can't fathom -27 degrees, but I can tell you I would have shrinkage issues that would far out way any fan problem..........
