This is the manual section for changing the belts on your car:

You'll have to remove all your belts to get to your alternator belt (Power steering, A/C). Because of this, you may want to consider replacing all your belts. Your car has two alternator belts., by the way.

Some browsers don't do well on that site. If you send me a PM with your e-mail address I can e-mail the pdf to you (it's about 1MB).

Try IE (if you aren't already).

I just did this job 2 months ago. It is a PITA but sure wish MB would do the double belt on the alternator/water pump on their more recent models..great redundancy that has been lost in the modern serpentine belt.

3 bolts holding PS pump (13 mm I think), 3 bolts holding AC compressor (17mm). All components have adjuster bolts so relatively simple to set back into place..just some of the fixing bolts are in hard to get spots (e.g. behind fuel filter).

Yeah, this is one of those jobs that should only take 1/2 hour, but will probably take 2 hours the first time. I did mine a few weeks a go in a hotel parking lot when one of the alternator belts broke 2000 miles from home.

If you don't have a AC belt, you need to remove the power steering belt first. As I recall you need to loosen three 13 mm bolts, then you can loosen the belt with the adjuster bolt. Once thats out of the way, you need to loosen the two alternator bolts, and loosen the adjuster on the alternator. Then you can remove/install the belts over the fan.
