be careful with the carb cleaner, your diesel could run away

Spray the carb cleaner with the engine off. Let it sit for 30 min to an hour so the carb cleaner can evaporate and the vapors find thier way out through the air cleaner.

If your wondering about the trap ox on an 85 Kali, it sits between the exhaust manifold and the turbo. Since you mentioned the U tube it probably doesn't have the trap ox on it any more. You might need a new wastegate spring, my 85 Kalifornistani 300SD does.

How are you testing your boost? (flooring it, dirving up a steep hill, power braking it, etc...)

I am testing boost by powerbreaking in 3rd gear at about 50mph with my right foot on the floor.

Whats the boost pressure going up Floyd hill or going west up the Eisenhower. High gear, top speed, full throttle.

That aint right. Do a search on how to adjust your waste gate it varies with the model of turbo. Should be 1 bar or 14 psi max.

I will have a chance to work on it tomarow. The strange thing is that the boost only gets to 12psi with the waste gate hose disconected and the overboost switch bypassed. I thought it should jump to about 30psi. Also, this dosen't change the performance.

I still think you have an exhaust restriction somewhere. Maybe you can try disconecting the exhaust at the turbo then give it a try. Make sure to hold the pipe out of the way so it wont find it's way back to where it has been for the past 20 years and restrict exhaust flow.

I have the exact same problem with my boost maxing out at 12 PSI. I think the spring is so worn out that the pressure forces the valve open on its own.
