How hot should a Turbo get?
When I opened the hood to shut my car off (92 300d 2.5) I looked over to see the tubro smoldering. (shut off valve is bad)
It's 45 degrees out. The first thing I checked was oil level (light's been going on/off since I got the car) and I added a half quart (its right below max now) this was after a short mile or so drive. Should it get this hot? - Could this be because the egr valve is leaks oil? (slightly)

The exhaust can get to 1200 Degrees F before the turbo. That much heat plus a drop of oil will cause smoke.
